Rochdale Feel Good Festival Battle of the Bands offers local talent a chance to shine

This summer’s edition of Greater Manchester’s most successful free music and food event is opening up the books and inviting aspiring acts and artists from the area to get involved in a talent contest. The victors will be given an opportunity to perform on the main stage ahead of the main headliners.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns to Rochdale Town Centre on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th August 2014. The two-day spectacular, run by Rochdale Borough Council and Rochdale Town Centre Management, has already confirmed that Scouting For Girls and The Selecter will top the musical offering, raising expectation of a bigger-than-ever crowd following the 10,000 who attended over both days last year, and organisers are now on the hunt for a final addition to the bill, with the slot open to rising local talent via its annual Battle of the Bands competition.

All hopefuls need to do to stand a chance of bagging their own set in front of the expectant crowds is email a link to a YouTube video of them playing live, along with a short biography, to farida@rochdaletcm.co.uk. Submissions will then be passed on to a professional judging panel, who will whittle down the entrants to decide on who will get to join the chart-topping stars already booked for the festival. All candidates must be based in the Rochdale Borough, and ensure their entry is received by 5PM on Monday 22nd July to stand a chance of success.

Debbie Hernon, Chief Executive of Rochdale Town Centre Management, said: “Rochdale Feel Good Festival’s Battle of the Bands contest represents a fantastic opportunity for local musicians to have their work heard by a huge audience, and share a stage with some of today’s biggest artists. After the results in previous years we have high expectations this time round, with the borough enjoying a long history of producing exceptionally talented artists.”
