The lockdown continues to keep us indoors as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.
But that hasn't broken spirits across the globe, with stories emerging every day of community spirit, charity and selflessness.
One such story has been the emergence of a group on Facebook called ‘Cupboard Heroes’ a community-based engagement group with the aim being to use the ingredients in your cupboard to create restaurant quality food. But that’s not all, the group itself (which currently sits at over 2 thousand) is overseen by Rochdale's top chefs, with more joining daily. Initially set up by Ben Boothman (owner of The Quirky Catering and town centre venues, the Flying Horse, Bombay Brew and The Baum). He had this to say:
“It all started when my 12-year-old son said there was nothing in the cupboard to cook.... but there was loads in there! It dawned on me millions would be going through this!! So, our chefs are willing to advise and so the group was born”

With more joining daily from various businesses around the town, not only this, but a large range of home chefs, showing the true spirit of when a town comes together. Ben hopes to achieve what we all want from our social media platforms in this hard time, a community helping each other.
So, dust off those chickpeas and turn that cauliflower into something sensational. Let the chefs see your ingredients, and they will show you how to knock up a dish with instructions to follow - in a friendly engaging environment built on the spirit of our community.
