Weather warning
Heavy rainfall combined with some snow melting across the hills is likely to lead to flooding in some areas, the forecaster said.
The Met Office said people can expect homes and businesses to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life, and spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures in some places.
The whole of Greater Manchester is covered by the amber-coded weather warning, alongside parts of Cheshire, Lancashire, and Yorkshire.
Sign up to flood warnings
As the town centre lies within a food risk area, you can sign up for flood warnings. These warn of the risk of flooding from rivers, the sea and groundwater. You’ll be alerted by phone, email or text when flooding is expected.
