Beales department store in Rochdale centre is to close on 1st August
A spokesperson for Rochdale Exchange said: “We are aware of the decision that has been made to close Beales’ Rochdale store.
“The store is under different ownership to the Rochdale Exchange, and hence this is not a decision we have been a party to.
“Nevertheless, we hope the owners will find a suitable replacement that provides the right amenities for the local community.”
Mark Foxley of Rochdale Town Centre Management said … “High streets up and down the country continue to change. Its disappointing that Rochdale is one of the Beales stores set to close. We understand it will close on 1st August and we hope the staff will be offered positions at the nearest stores of Bolton or Keighley.
“There are exciting times ahead for Rochdale Town Centre with M&S, Next and Reel Cinemas already signed up to the Rochdale Riverside Retail and Leisure development, and it won’t be long before more big names are also confirmed"
Chairman Stuart Lyons said: “A minority of our stores lose money because leases agreed some years ago are no longer sustainable due to changes in the economy and local conditions.”
