The Mayors Charities Shopmobility  -  Springhill Hospice - Petrus  -  Pakeeza Womans Group … have benefited from a four thousand pounds boost raised at the Rochdale Beer Festival held recently at Rochdale Town Hall.

The event was attended by almost 2000 people with visitors coming from as far afield as the South Coast and Midlands.

Mark Foxley of Town Centre Management said "the committee worked hard and secured over 60 local businesses to help sponsor the event. We are all delighted we over achieved our target for the Mayors Charities"

The festival featured over 70 real ales, 10 ciders & perries along with a foreign bottled beer bar. The beer flowed Thursday, Friday & Saturday and the last barrel sold out at 7-30pm on Saturday after which local businesses benefited.

CAMRA ran the bars and looked after the beer, overseen by Peter Alexander, with other partners doing various tasks needed to make the festival a success. Also on the Organising Committee were three top local landlords Chris Riley (Regal Moon), Ben Boothman (Flying Horse) and Simon Crompton (The Baum).

Mark added “everyone worked closely over the 7 months preparation and and we were supported by Rochdale Council Town Hall staff and a fantastic team of volunteers to make the event a success. Sincere thanks to sponsors, volunteers and everyone involved”
