With less than one week to go until Greater Manchester best-loved free music and food event kicks off, organisers are delighted to draw attention to some of the additional activities and attractions set to supplement the main offerings.
Rochdale Feel Good Festival marks seven years of excellent cuisine and stand out pop and rock performances on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th August 2014. This edition already has plenty of reasons why those responsible are expecting footfall to better the 10,000-strong crowd that attended last time round, not least chart toppers Scouting For Girls, esteemed ska pioneers The Selecter, and celebrity chefs such as Ainsley Harriott, Andrew Nutter, and Aazam Ahmad. However, the headliners are far from the only selling point.
In addition to those big names, the M6 Street Theatre will also be in attendance across both days. Working with Aqueous Humour, the young members of the troupe have created a visually stunning piece specially for the Feel Good Festival, funded by The BBC Performing Arts Fund and The Granada Foundation, with performances taking place at various times throughout the event. Meanwhile, Skylight Circus Arts, Rochdale’s own school of entertainers, will also be on hand with aerial escapades, unicycling horses, stilt walkers and more, delivering a show inspired by the angel statue that once stood in the town’s Broadfield Park.
Elsewhere, and Vibe Youth Music will be putting on live DJ workshops in the festival market, and on Saturday at 3.15PM the sensational Rock Choir will give renditions of contemporary hits and classics led by Phil Reynolds. All of which is before we mention the family craft and creativity sessions held in the Link4Life Creativity Tent, and additional bands and musical artists taking over two floors of The Flying Horse Hotel on both Friday evening and all day Saturday, with sets running well into the early hours.
Debbie Hernon, of Rochdale Feel Good Festival, said: “The Rochdale Feel Good Festival has always been about fantastic acts performing on the main stage, and esteemed chefs cooking up amazing dishes in the kitchen. But it’s also focussed on providing a truly comprehensive two-day programme that’s packed full of great entertainment for the entire family, with side shows and street artists on hand to create a really special event. This year is our biggest and best line up yet, and this continues through to the smaller attractions, and as such we expect another successful celebration of our borough, the end of summer and the importance of community.”
