Rochdale opticians makes fundraising a piece of cake

THE team at a local opticians in Rochdale have held a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Research, selling a selection of delicious sweet treats for their customers, raising over £100 for the charity.

Specsavers on Rochdale’s Yorkshire Street brewed up for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 28 September, offering a delicious range of sweet treats for customers visiting the store. 

Staff at the opticians’ treated the local community to a bake sale, which included mouth-watering chocolate fudge cake, cupcakes, brownies and cherry bakewells.

The national fundraising initiative was launched to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support for those battling cancer and their families.

Sarah Culshaw, store director at Specsavers Rochdale, says: ‘It was brilliant to see what the team had whipped up for the day. The whole day was really successful and everyone had a wonderful time selling snacks for a good cause.

‘Each year Macmillan helps millions of people and anyone who has been affected by cancer understands what a special charity Macmillan is, so I’d like to thank all our customers who visited us on the day and helped us make a difference.’
