Families looking for something to do with the kids this weekend should make a visit to Rochdale town centre.
Santa’s reindeer will be flying into town and resting on The Butts between 11am – 3pm on Saturday 6th December where children can pet the reindeer and have their photograph taken sat in Santa’s sleigh. There will also be a Santa’s Grotto at Touchstones, Rochdale (bookings required in advance on 01706 924928).
The Butts will be bustling with children’s rides, stalls, musical performances and special guest appearances from Lightning McQueen (the star of the Pixar film, Cars) and Wardle Anderson brass band, all adding to a magical day’s entertainment. Children can also bring along their letters to Santa and hand these in to his Elves at the reindeer pen.
This popular family event which has been organised to coincide with Small Business Saturday UK gives families another reason to visit Rochdale town centre and shop locally this Christmas.
Mark Foxley, Rochdale Town Centre Manager said: “The Santa’s Reindeers event is a great draw for families every year and we wanted to tie this in with Small Business Saturday UK to help support our independent town centre businesses. We have over 80 fantastic independent shops in the town including Chantilly – crowned Rochdale’s best high street retailer at the 2014 Rochdale Business Awards, over 80 stalls on Rochdale Market, and a great selection of food and drink venues.”
“The new Smith Street car park, Metrolink stop, transport interchange and River Street taxi rank means Rochdale town centre is more accessible than ever before, and parking is free in Council owned car parks every weekend and after 10am daily from Saturday 13 December – Saturday 04 January. Rochdale town centre will also have late night shopping every Thursday throughout December and a new Christmas Cinema has opened in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, even more reasons to visit Rochdale this Christmas!
