Time Machine "WOW" take a look at the video!

Lots of local organisations, clubs and societies were involved in the first ever Time Machine event, which gave people an opportunity to bring along their own photos, archives and artifacts, communities coming together to create bunting using scrapbooking techniques and watch rare local footage from the Pathe film archive in a mobile vintage cinema. The area that looked at the future of the town and the recent multi-million investment areas.

Free advice for young and new businesses will soon be available from GC Business Growth Hub, part of The Growth Company, in the pop-up space in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Rochdale. The GC Business Growth Hub supports businesses at all stages of their growth journey with a broad range of services, such as one-to-one and peer-to-peer business support, events, specialist programmes, funding and more. Now they will be offering free business advice to new and fledgling businesses, and those thinking of starting a business, on a monthly basis from Rochdale town centre between 10am and 2pm on 16 July, 20 August and 17 September. Rochdale beauty salon celebrates 26 years of business

Established Rochdale beauty salon, The Retreat is celebrating 26 years of business this month. Originally located on Baillie Street, the St Mary’s Gate salon was set up as ‘Nails and Things’ by Laura Prime in 1993. The salon grew from humble beginnings and underwent a name change in 2009 – becoming The Retreat – to incorporate the spa feel and facilities available.

Street Eat dishes up weekend treat

The Bank Holiday weekend’s Street Eat festival is being hailed as the best one yet, as crowds of well over 3,000 tucked into a double helping of food, drink, family entertainment and live music around Rochdale Town Hall Square. The event was basked in warm sunshine for most of Saturday, and although the weather was less kind for some of Sunday, that didn’t stop large crowds forming throughout the weekend, having their taste-buds tickled and their thirsts quenched whilst enjoying tasty dishes from the town centre’s best bars and restaurants.

Million of pounds of investment secured as the borough’s regeneration continues

Almost £40m of private sector investment has been brought into Rochdale over the last financial year, bringing a number of new businesses to the borough, creating 286 new jobs. Private sector investment poured into the borough through the new Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure development, which secured major funding from investment giants, M&G. A number of investments made by businesses, either through expansion, relocation into the borough or refurbishment of their premises also played a part in generating the £38.9m.
